Taiji Energy: The Thirteen Methods
For those who wish to taste the authentic Taiji experience, it is necessary to understand that every movement contains a set of energy feelings. In Chen Taiji, we use energy methods or patterns to convey the internal interaction generated by our practice.
In Chen Taiji, we distinguish between postures and methods. Those familiar with yoga usually accept the "posture" explanation of Taiji energy because yoga uses position to raise their energy. However, postures are "stances," different from methods that generate and move energy through the entire body as it moves.
In Chen Taiji, energy is created through the interplay of 13 distinct energy types. These are the eight energies: inflate, divert, press, undermine, cut off, spiral, poke, and crowd, and the Five Elements: stick, adhere, link, follow, and stabilize.
