Taiji Energy: The Thirteen Methods

For those who wish to taste the authentic Taiji experience, it is necessary to understand that there is a set of energy feelings in every movement. In Chen Taiji, we use energy to denote the internal power generated by our practice.

Those familiar with yoga usually accept the "posture" explanation of Taiji energy because yoga uses position to raise their energy. However, postures are "stances," while methods generate and move energy while the entire body is moving. In Chen Taiji, we distinguish between postures and methods.

In Chen Taiji, energy is created through the interplay of 13 distinct energy patterns generated by Taiji. They are called Eight energies: inflation, divert, press, push, pluck, spiral, elbow, crowd, and Five Elements: stick, adhere, link, follow, and stabilize.
